Plant Journal:Decontaminating Nozzles
Hennigan Engineering Company, Inc. announced
a licensing agreement with a major southern nuclear operating company
for the engineering design and implementation of apparatus and methods
for decontamination of nuclear reactor nozzles. The system was designed,
developed and tested by Hennigan Engineering, which also applied
for the patent. The system was developed to remove crud for source
reduction of inaccessible reactor internals and odd components that
had become a dose concern. This decontamination permits safe, uncomplicated
and accurate component inspections.
